Mr. Abhishek Baid is a Founding Partner of Expletus Legal and a distinguished practitioner in Securities & Capital Market Laws, Banking & Financial Regulatory Litigation, White-Collar Crime and Commercial Disputes. He has developed a strong practice representing clients in complex regulatory, enforcement and commercial matters involving financial markets, corporate governance, economic offences and regulatory investigations.
With extensive experience before the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, SAT, NCLT, NCLAT, SEBI and other regulatory forums, Mr. Baid is widely recognised for his strategic insight, regulatory expertise and effective advocacy in high-stakes financial and commercial disputes. He presently serves as Standing Counsel for SEBI, RBI and SFIO, reflecting the confidence reposed in him by some of India’s foremost financial and regulatory institutions.
His practice encompasses securities and capital market litigation, SEBI enforcement proceedings, insider trading and market manipulation matters, corporate fraud investigations, FEMA disputes, insolvency and restructuring proceedings, white-collar criminal litigation, regulatory compliance and commercial arbitration. He advises listed entities, promoters, directors, financial institutions, insolvency professionals and regulatory authorities in matters involving securities fraud, corporate misconduct, disclosure violations and financial regulatory enforcement.
Over the course of his practice, he has been involved in several significant and high-profile matters involving securities & capital market regulations and corporate restructuring, including matters relating to the NSE Co-location proceedings, Karvy group entities, Collective Investment Schemes, Global Depository Receipts, mutual funds, Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited (DHFL), Tata Steel Limited, Electrosteel Castings Limited, ArcelorMittal, JK Paper Limited, Monnet Ispat & Energy Limited, Jaypee Infratech Limited, Bhushan Power & Steel Limited and various other notable regulatory, insolvency and corporate litigation matters.
Known for his analytical approach and ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks, Mr. Baid combines technical legal expertise with commercially pragmatic solutions. As Managing Partner, he has played a pivotal role in establishing Expletus Legal’s nationally recognised practice in Securities & Capital Market Laws, Banking & Financial Regulatory Litigation, White-Collar Crime and Corporate Disputes, making the Firm a trusted advisor for clients operating in highly regulated and commercially sensitive sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (2008 Batch) from Bangalore University.

Mr. Baid is also a Trustee of Shri Parshva Padmavati Jinalaya Mahabalipuram Teerth Nyas, New Delhi which has been associated with initiatives undertaken in coordination with the Government of India, including the issuance of official limited-edition silver commemorative coins to commemorate the 2900th Janm Kalyanak (Birth Anniversary) and the 2800th Nirvan Kalyanak (Salvation Anniversary) of Bhagwan Parshvanath, the 23rd Tirthankara of Jainism.
Mr. Baid is also a Member of Bhagwan Mahavir Memorial Samiti, New Delhi, a public charitable organization established in 1974 and engaged in the promotion and preservation of Jain philosophy, culture and heritage. The Samiti has collaborated with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and other institutions in organizing large-scale commemorative events, including the 2550th Bhagwan Mahavir Nirvan Mahotsav held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The Samiti is also recognized for initiatives aimed at promoting Jain heritage and values, including the formal launch of a unified Jain Emblem for the Jain community.
He is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Delhi High Court Bar Association and NCLT & AT Bar Association.
